The city schools in this area are better than the neighborhoods closer to downtown, and the neighborhood is very quiet with many homes looking into ravines and creeks. I would check out these three areas for sure.Īlso Cintonville is just north of the Ohio State University, also north of downtown, and this neighborhood in Columbus has more families and great 20th street car suburb style homes. If you live in one of the neighborhoods next to the short north, Victorian Village and Italian Village, you will have many things within walking distance and be in the center of Columbus' fastest gentrifying area of the central city. The area sees new condos and lofts being built daily and is next to some very nice neighborhoods with victorian houses. This area is the cities arts district and has all of the things that type of area would have. There is a commerical strip called the Short North. The north side of downtown area is where the gentrification craze hit and the gay population took over at lightning speed in the 90s. But don't worry ,The village has great restaurants mixed in with all of the historic homes. German Village is a little ways off from all of the clubs bars, and nightlife, and since your settled down you may enjoy this.

It is just south of downtown and has a very quaint feel to it. German Village is a very nice, and these days a little on the more expensive side, area. However, the urban neighborhoods around downtown have the largest concentrations. Columbus is 227 sq miles so there's many places for us to live. Of course, the gay population is not as dense as Chicago, but the city is tolerant and progressive.Ĭolumbus gay population does not reside in just one area either, I know people in many, including suburbs, who are open.
